Hi, I'm Makayla — one of the owners of Magnolia Grove.

My husband Nathan and I created Magnolia Grove from a genuine love for natural products, crystals, meaningful gifts, and spaces that feel calm, welcoming, and a little inspiring. We wanted to build something that reflected the things we personally enjoy and value — beautiful pieces with character, self-care rooted in simplicity, and a slower, more intentional way of living.

What started small gradually became something much more personal to us. Magnolia Grove has grown into not only a business, but a way for us to support the life we want to live and the work we care deeply about.

One of the biggest blessings this business has given us is the ability to dedicate time and resources to animal rescue. Rescue work has become a huge part of our lives, and being self-employed has allowed us the flexibility to foster, coordinate transports, help vulnerable animals get medical care, and support rescue efforts in our community whenever we can.

For me, Magnolia Grove has never been only about products. It's about creating something meaningful — a business built with heart that also allows us to give back and make a real difference where we're able to.

We're incredibly grateful for every person who supports our shop, because in many ways, your support also helps support the rescue work that means so much to us.

On a more personal level, I've always been someone who feels deeply connected to both people and animals. I'm naturally drawn to things that bring comfort, beauty, and meaning into everyday life — whether that's caring for rescue animals, creating peaceful spaces, curating crystals and handmade goods, or simply helping someone find something that makes them feel seen or understood.

Part of the reason I created Magnolia Grove was because I genuinely wanted to help people in whatever ways I could. I know how much small things can matter — a comforting space, a meaningful gift, a calming scent, a crystal someone connects with, or even just a kind conversation on a difficult day. I wanted to create something that felt safe, welcoming, and real. Somewhere people could come not only to shop, but to feel inspired, understood, and comfortable being themselves.

I've never been interested in building something that feels cold or overly polished. I wanted Magnolia Grove to feel warm, imperfect, personal, and full of heart. Over time, I realized it was becoming more than just a business — it was becoming a community filled with people who value compassion, creativity, healing, and connection just as much as I do.

A huge part of who I am is rooted in compassion and creativity, and rescue work has shaped me in countless ways. It constantly reminds me how important kindness, patience, and community really are. Some of the most meaningful moments in my life have come from helping animals heal, watching them find loving homes, and working alongside people who truly care.

For me, helping people and helping animals have always gone hand in hand. Magnolia Grove has allowed me to combine both of those passions into something meaningful, and I'm incredibly grateful for every person who has supported that journey along the way.

At the end of the day, Magnolia Grove reflects the life Nathan and I have built together — one centered around creativity, compassion, rescue work, connection, and trying to leave things a little better than we found them.

I also could not talk about Magnolia Grove without mentioning Jen, who has become such an important part of both our business and our lives.

Jen works incredibly hard to keep our Magnolia Grove consignment booths in San Antonio fully stocked, organized, and cared for. She regularly communicates with shop owners, helps manage inventory, and makes sure everything continues running smoothly even when we can't physically be there ourselves. In many ways, she has become my right hand and truly acts as an account manager for Magnolia Grove.

Beyond the business side of things, Jen shares the same heart for animal rescue that Nathan and I do. She is deeply involved in rescue work and also serves as a board member for our 501(c)(3), Operation Border Animal Rescue. Her compassion, reliability, and willingness to step in wherever needed have made an enormous impact not only on our business, but on the rescue efforts we care so deeply about.

She is genuinely an invaluable part of the Magnolia Grove family, and we honestly could not do everything we do without her support, dedication, and friendship.
